Can I run a Powerline network across different mains rings?

In the majority of UK homes, the same electrical consumer unit connects all the rings and the network therefore is able to run across the different mains rings because the signal can run across the busbar of a common consumer unit.

If the mains rings are isolated, for example, on different electrical phases  then the separate Powerline networks can be linked together via a CAT5 cable.
