The Powerline Sockets automatically go to sleep when there is no active Ethernet connection, but the units can be put into manual hibernation mode where the power consume drops to ~0.5W.  This is done by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds.  The Powerline Socket can be taken out of hibernation mode by pressing the reset button or by power cycling the unit.
